Supporting parents who care deeply, and are exhausted by it.
Meet Lesley
Hello, I’m Lesley! A mum-of-four and a Clinical Psychologist based in Denmark in regional Western Australia, and the human behind Point Hillier Psychology.
I work with children, adolescents, and parents - supporting them through big feelings, tricky behaviours, and the everyday realities of growing up and parenting (the beautiful bits and the exhausting ones).
I don’t believe kids are “too much” or parents are “doing it wrong.” Behaviour makes sense when we understand it, and therapy works best when it feels safe and supportive.
Experience
I bring over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families across private practice, schools, community, plus justice and not-for-profit settings.
I support young people across a wide range of mental health challenges including anxiety, difficulties with emotional regulation, and neurodivergence such as ADHD and autism.
I also work closely with parents who feel worried, overwhelmed, or unsure how best to help their child (often while juggling a lot themselves!).
Values and aims
Compassion
Connection
Flexibility
My work is guided by these three pillars, as well as a deep respect for each child’s unique way of being. My goal isn’t to remove every challenge (because let’s face it – that’s not life!) but to help children, teens and parents build confidence, understanding, and emotional skills to navigate life more calmly and connected - one step at a time.
Why I do this work
I’ve seen the difference it makes when children feel understood rather than “fixed,” and when parents feel supported rather than judged. Rural families often carry a lot on their own, and I’m passionate about being part of the support that helps things feel more manageable — and sometimes even lighter.
My approach
My style is warm, collaborative, genuine and practical, with room for gentle humour (because therapy doesn’t have to be all-serious to be effective). I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside attachment-based and neurodevelopmental frameworks.
Sessions with children are engaging and suited to their developmental stage so they can feel comfortable, curious and involved. With parents, we take time to think things through together - exploring what may be underneath the challenges you’re noticing and finding practical ways to respond that stay connected to the kind of parent you want to be – even on the hard days!
